ABOUT THE DESIGNER

I'm Anne Duzan, the owner and designer of Daisyenne Designs LLC.

I grew up in a rural area with farm fields, woods, lakes, and streams. I’ve always been interested in how and why plants grow and how they interact with everything else. We live in a community with plants, animals, insects, and other people — working together makes us stronger.

There is always more to learn and experience, and I take seriously the idea of always trying to become better and constantly learn more. I bring my many interests and experiences to whatever I design.

Most of my professional life was spent working in various academic, pharmaceutical, and biotech companies’ research and development laboratories, none of which had anything to do with plants. I always wanted to get back to my roots and work with plants and the outdoors.

I volunteered at Longwood Gardens for a year and then worked as a seasonal employee, learning so much about horticulture while I was there. I earned Certificates of Merit in Landscape Design and Ornamental Horticulture Level 1 at Longwood Gardens. To follow up with another interest, storm water in the landscape, I trained through the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council and hold the Chespeake Bay Landscape Professional certification.

I give back to my community by volunteering on our township’s Parks and Recreation Board. Projects so far have included two big streambank restoration plantings, a meadow planting, and designing native plant gardens for bench areas in a township park. But as a member of the Parks and Rec Board, I also enjoy taking part in planning and executing activities for families and members of the community- from movie nights to concerts to holiday celebrations and more. It’s been fun and I encourage everyone to volunteer for something they’re interested in!

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania with my husband and two rescued cats.
